From Bumble to Bunny Hill

Nicola & Adam celebrated their day in style with us back on the 29th March 2023! Nicola, who is Senior Cabin Crew at jet2.com and Adam, Lead Welder for a lifting company in Leeds, met on an online dating app called Bumble back in 2018 and got engaged at the beautiful Minack Theatre in Cornwall shortly after. The couple chose Bunny Hill as the dream destination for their 2023 wedding and now, as they celebrate their first year as Mr & Mrs Madeley, we caught up with them to relive all the gorgeous details of their big day, and get some of their top tips for our future Bunny Hill couples!

Why did you choose Bunny Hill for your big day?

“As soon as we walked into Bunny Hill for our first viewing we just knew instantly that we wanted to get married here. The main barn is just breathtaking with the high ceilings and chandeliers and the love songs playing in the background just made it. I genuinely felt like I could cry upon walking in knowing we had found our place. The entire journey home we were excitedly talking about how we could work our day around the venue. We did continue looking at a couple of other venues but by this point we just knew that we had found our wedding venue as we were walking around other venues comparing them to Bunny Hill and nothing came close. So we quickly got back in touch with the amazing team and booked a second viewing to secure our date!”

What was your vision when you began planning your wedding?

“We knew we wanted a Mauve based colour scheme as we hadn’t seen many weddings using that colour and we’re so glad we did. We didn’t need to do much to the venue at all as it speaks for itself so we decided to go for low table styling, which made it easier for guests to talk across the tables. We also wanted to incorporate ourselves into the tables as a little talking feature so we decided on table ages rather than table numbers including a picture of the both of us at that age on the table.”

How was the lead up to your wedding?

“The excitement of planning a wedding is amazing but at times I did find it a little hard – especially when it came to choosing suppliers and sticking to budget! It was great to work with the team at Bunny as the day got closer to help finalise all the important details”

Tell us all about your wedding day, including any suppliers that helped bring your vision to life! Were there any personal touches?

‘I loved all of our suppliers. They were all amazing during the lead up and I’m so glad we used them all. They really took our vision and brought it to life! We had an audio guestbook which we got through a company called Calleo and I cannot recommend this company and this service enough! It’s already worth its weight in gold as I sadly lost my mum within the same year of getting married and I will forever have her voice to listen back to. All the messages from our family and friends went from lovely and sentimental through the day to more fun and drunken as the evening started and they are such fun messages to listen back to. We also used a company called Top it Off Drinks which created personalised drink toppers to put on the Prosecco for our drinks reception.”

What was your most memorable moment?

“The most memorable bit was when I was stood with my dad and my bridesmaids before walking down the aisle and I could hear Ad and his groomsmen doing their walk down the aisle and I remember just thinking to myself “OMG we’re doing it!! Our plan is coming together”.  Then to actually walk down the aisle was the most amazing feeling I will never ever forget. Ad also agrees that this was one of his most memorable moments from being with his groomsmen walking in to then waiting for me to walk down the aisle and all the emotions that came with it.”

What was your first dance song and why did you choose it?

“We struggled with the first dance song as we knew it was one of the main songs of the day and we really wanted it to be right. We decided on ‘Bradley Marshall – Perfect to me’ which we’d only heard 2 weeks before the wedding while scrolling social media. As soon as we heard it we just knew it was the song for us, the lyrics are so beautifully written!”

Is there anything you wish you had done differently?

Nicola said “I loved our day so much, there isn’t really anything I’d of done differently, except for maybe limit myself on the Prosecco haha! I wish I’d of had a water or alcoholic free drink every other drink so that I wasn’t as tipsy later on in the day!”

Advice for our brides-to-be…

“Don’t get caught up in wedding politics of who you should or shouldn’t invite, or what you should or shouldn’t do. Go with your gut and what you both want! It’s your day and no one else’s, so do what you want to do. Also don’t sweat the small stuff, you can spend hours planning the table designs and other smaller aspects of your day which are huge to you at the time of planning but you don’t notice them on the day and I can guarantee you that your guests won’t remember what your menus or welcome sign looked like!”
